Descriptions:

Field Production

Operation of digital video equipment and film/video theory are taught in a tangible manner, where participants get hands-on experience in setting up and shooting. Learn the basics that will allow you to create your own unique style once you get out in the field!
Fee: $10
Final Cut Pro
Final Cut offers unlimited creative possibilities. Learn how multiple non-linear digital audio and video tracks come together to create a single sequence. The potential is endless with this professional video editing program, where every interest, idea, and genre is brought to life!
Prerequisite: Complete and Cablecast one (1) Imovie production or demonstrate ability with Instructor
Fee: $10
Studio Production
Learn about making productions in a full-size TV studio, including all crew positions: camera, lighting, audio, floor manager, graphics/titles, and directing. With Studio certification you can make your own productions or work on the crew for others.
Fee: $10
Field Lighting
Learn how to use portable light kits to brighten or enhance your video images. This class will teach operation of lights and stands, basic lighting design, and use of accessories such as diffusion, colored gels, etc.
Prerequisite: Field Producer Certification
Fee: $5
iMovie tutorials
Individual 1.5-hour session by appointment
Comprehend the basics of DV (digital video) editing, including importing from a MiniDV source, timeline manipulation, audio manipulation, titling, effects, transitions, stills, and exporting to tape or DVD. One-hour appointments can be made as available, contact Sean at
production@actvamherst.com or 256-1010. This course, in combination with Field Production, gives you Field Producer certification.

Studio B tutorials
Individual 2-hour session by appointment
Learn how to use ACTV's do-it-yourself one-person studio. Studio B allows you to be on-camera and run the equipment at the same time, and this 2-hour training gives you all the knowledge to make your own complete studio show.
Fee: $5
Classes are open to current members who meet applicable prerequisites (orientation is a prerequisite for all classes). Scholarships are available for members with financial need - please fill out an application at the station.
